How to Fit a 51mm Brew Head Seal - Sunbeam/Breville/Krups

This is the procedure that we follow in our workshop to fit new Brew Head Seals to the models including:

Breville: 800ES, BES200, BES250, BES820, ESP6, ESP8, ESP8B, ESP8BMR and ESP8C

Sunbeam: EM2300, EM3500, EM3600, EM3800, EM4800, EM5400, EM5600, EM5800

If you have purchased this seal and decide to go ahead with the repair yourself, please TAKE CARE, especially when unscrewing the centre screw from the thermal block. If the Stainless Screw shears off and the thread stays lodged in the thermal block the machine is beyond repair.

Do not go ahead if your Coffee Machine is NOT in good condition. We’re trained to do this sort of stuff. If you decide to do this repair and you have a problem, give us a call. Parts are sold with the understanding that we can’t be liable if the repair fails.

Unplug the machine and wait until the machine is cold. Get a small Philips Head screwdriver and unscrew the small screw which is holding the metal filter grid on in the brew head assembly. Don't force it as you may shear the screw off.

Remove the metal filter grid and take out the worn brew head seal, noting the direction it fits into the brew head unit. You may need to gently ease this out with a thin flat screwdriver but it will come out.

With a damp cloth clean the brew head assembly out. Fit the metal grid to the new seal as it is easier to see what you're doing. Wet the seal and the grid to aid in refitting. Refit the seal and the grid with the small screw. Be careful not to overtighten.

We recommend that you do not leave the filter handle attached to the machine as this will reduce the life of the seal.
